    Default Scope for 338

Looks like I might actually try to get out moose hunting this year.

The last scope that was on my old model 70 was a Sears special, so I'm looking to get a scope. Don't want to spend more than I have to, but want something that will work well.

It seems like Leopold's are quite popular, but not the cheapest. Any recommendations? Thanks!....Louis

    Leupold....2.5 x 8 would be about perfect.

Leupold VX-II 3-9x40. If you are patient, you can snag one on ebay for less than $200.

I have always liked the Nikon scopes I've owned. Some good deals can be had on thier closeout Monarchs.....less than $250. Their Buckmaster series is also a good value.

I like Leupolds too, but thankfully, I've never had to pay full price for one. I think their 2.5-8x is just about ideal.

Cant argue with leupolds. I have had 1.5x5's and 2x7's on my 338's. currently my 338 is wearing an old steel tube weaver 4x. I love it. paid $50 for it on E-bay. I got lucky and picked up a good scope. gotta watch those auction sites.

Personally, I would save up a little longer if need be and buy a leupold or equivelant. something with a good warrenty. It will more than likely pay for itself before you decide to buy another scope.

    If your interested in a 4X. I have a 2nd weaver K4 laying around.

    I use a Bushnell Legend, 2x7 on my 338.

It has adequate eye relief, and great features, like an easy to adjust eyepiece, Turrets that don't require a screwdriver or coin, and a knob on the power ring for easy turning.

The price is reasonable, but best of all, the optics are sharp and clear.

    Thumbs up Go with Leupold

    Lifetime Warrenty

I have a 3.5x10 on my 338 Win. But a good Leupold VXII in 3x9 would work great on yours in Low steel rings
