    Default winter shore fishing

hi all, thinking about taking my surf rod to homer with me this weekend to try some shore fishing. does anyone know if its even worth the while to try shore fishing from, say, the shore by land's end or the relative close area? figured on just using a small circle hook with herring or squid on the bottom. thanks

Couldn't hurt. We will be heading down there in a week or so to spend part of spring break. If the weather is favorable, we will have a line out. It will sure beat working! Report back if you do.

Definately fish to be had. I was down there last year a few times. Squid is good, but make sure you get it out close to the pilings. Nothing I caught was worth keeping, but I did speak to a few folks that reported cod and small halibut being caught there.
