Default Your favorite scope mounts for a high recoil rifle.

I just tried to sight in my new 375 h&h and I dont trust the cheap mounts I put on it. What are your preferences? Maybe detachable?

    Which rifle?

On hard kickers the Leupold Dual Dovetail and the Warne Maxima vertical split rings are tough to beat.

    I've used Talleys on a 6lb 338 and on a 8.5lb 416Rem - no issues, at all.

What makes Talleys so special...??? Just curious as I haven't bought rings or mounts in quite awhile and need to again soon.

I use Talleys because they are strong, and have a quick release feature that returns to zero very well, and they have a great rep. I have open sights on most of my rifles like the option of popping off the Talleys and using the sights. BTW they have several models including a lightweight version.

I bought a new light weight aircraft aluminum grade tactical rail and rings set through a company called EGW. I picked these up because I wanted something that doesn't rust and can take beating (Alaska type beating). I also didn't like the set that was sent to me by leupold when I ordered my mark4. Here is the website. http://www.egwguns.com/
I spent some money on my rings and base but I was shooting 180 gr 3400 FPS yesterday and I like much better than my leupold set up. Also, American made and great service. Good luck to finding something you like!

The Leupold DD on my 338WM don't let the 30mm Swaro move at all. Good value also.

Not only recoil..but i use the crap out of my rifles. Push over brush with stock,
walking stick etc. I want as few variables that can move as possible

I'm a Talley fan. Very strong, and his QD's reliably return to zero.

Leupold Dual Dovetail and as low as your scope allows...shorter is stronger and I feel I get a better cheek weld with the stock and therefore less likely to FEEL the recoil on my forehead.

The Near Manufacturing Three-Ring Alphamount is pretty indestructable and works for me:

It's only available for a limited number of rifle types though (it looks like maybe Weatherby, Sako and Remington from their website). http://www.nearmfg.com/

Ok guys....... Last year I realized when I threw my 270 up and brought the compact Leupold scope up to my eye, that I didn't have enough eye relief to be comfortable....never noticed that before. I moved the scope back as far as it would go in the rings and still no better. Can I get a different mount that would allow the scope to move further back to my eye?

    Thanks.....
