    Default Winter Steel

I built my first fly rod a few weeks ago and had to try it out, so I jumped on a plane with a couple of buddies to chase winter steel in Oregon. Everything was slow, run numbers were really low due to a couple of weeks with no rain. We chased reports through a few different parts of the state and had a good time in the sunshine, happy to be out in 60 degree weather.

I guess the parks streams will be ice free soon enough.

Thanks guys, you should have seen the looks we got as we said we were leaving Alaska to go fly fishing - both in Anchorage and Portland.

I keep coming back to this thread to look at the pictures... I need to get out and fly fish, dropping jigs through holes just isn't enough!
