Default powering the new Wooldridge XP

Just confirmed an order for a new 20 foot XP to replace my old I/B jet boat. Use is mainly on rivers here in Yukon for fishing and moose hunting--usually just 2 on board. Ordered the Etec 150 but now wonder about going to Etec HO 200. Lots more money though! Any thoughts out there from those of you with Wooldridge boats?

Will either run regular gas? I have standard 8.1L because the HO version required premium gas.

Timberman, I e-mailed you. You are new so your PM doesn't work yet.

Timberman, I ran a 150 E-tec on my Wooldridge 20' Alaskan II and was real happy with the way it performed. The XP will be slightly heavier, but I hauled some pretty good loads and never had any problems out of the hole, getting up on step. I currently own a Wooldridge 20' XL Sport Jet, but would recommend the 150 E-tec to anyone considering an outboard. I was just in Seattle last week and stopped by to visit the folks at Wooldridge and saw your boat being built, she's coming along nicely. I attached a picture, but unfortunately it turned out blurry. Anyway it'll give you some idea how your boat is coming along. Congrats on your new XP.

IMO the 150 jet would be just fine provided you never wanted to push 2 adults, a weeks worth of gear, gas, and 2 moose.

Max 175hp is max for the 20ft is it not? Why not the Etech 175 and split the difference?

I assume you are talking a 150 prop. A 150 Jet on that big boy would not be very exciting.
