Default Ugly or passable lookin ya think???

Well this is the octagon 256 Win Mag Rossi 92. These things far outshoot the iron sights so I thought Id put an integral scout scope mount. I went with Weaver ears on 3 centers hoping it wont be too ugly with the scope off. With the quick detach rings it goes on and off fast and easy, seems very practical.

So will it stick out like a sore thumb or still look somewhat old west with the scope off?

Looks good to me,you do very good work. To me it looks better than some of the claw mounts on very high dollar DR's
Now left only to be a turd in the forrest and the circle will be complete.Use me as I have used you

It is nicely done, and sturdy, too.

Much better than the bases just screwed into the barrel, I think.

Looks better than pickaninny rail, don't it?

    I like'um, alot actually.

I like the way you intergrated them into the barrel and maintained a low profile. With the front grip stock in place they should appear as a low accent with the scope off, and like you said with quick detach rings the scope is on and off fast. I like that there are less screwsd to work loose as well.

    Very good job.

Thanks guys, I was hoping it would resemble something a Victorian gunsmith may have done 100 years ago. I hate the look of a scope on a lever or even a screwed on rail sticking up killing the top-line profile but this little 256WM lazar just begs for some optics.

Yup, a lot of us over the hill gang folks need scopes to hit anything. That is about as clean of setup as I have seen. And once blued it will be even less noticable. Good job. I'm about ready to have my barrel chambered for the 256w. Let me know when would be a good time. No hurry. Also, do you by chance have about 7" to 8" of good 22LR barrel I could buy?

Whenever works for you just holler, just about whenever is fine with me.

I dont have anything 22lr sitting around, WWG maybe. I can order some up, 8 of 1 OD (16 twist) about $25 in 4140CM or about $30 in 416SS.
