Default The Alternative to Work: Hard Luck Lake Trout

We took Friday off from work and ended up in a tie. Hard Luck 1 Anglers 1. Alcanron busted off a fatty & I was able to score one to the surface.

Yes......................As my avatar says, mayhem is everywhere. Even on my fishing line. One day I will get one to the surface again.

Just so others know, I caught 1 fish last Feburary so I have matched my output from last year. Will see how the rest of the month goes. This is a tough lake and the fish have an ever changing pattern.

3 Hardsides up this year. I know the owners of 2 of them. Same guys that have been coming out the last couple years, they decided to build hardsides this year. They have not reported any fish caught out of their set ups, although they have marked some fish. There hardsides are snowed in from blowing drift. The other hardside is a small unit that has been in the same spot for about the last 4-5 years.

Access remains difficult, looks like a couple people have been stuck already before they could even get 10 foot off the launch.

The most I have seen on any one day since November is 4 groups. I make it a point to go and try to meet and visit with anyone on the lake when I am there, I have only seen 1 newby this season. Granted I am not out there everyday.

Bring your A game, long hours and plan on moving to find the bite.

@stid2677 maybe this season we can try it together one day?

We measured it out to just over 30 inches. Then it was released. We get them back into the water as fast as we can.

Snowmachine makes it easier than walking. I have not been able to drive out on the lake tha last few years.

Drifter 016, I took your real time satellite photo of Harding lake and ran it through facial recognition software with Alaska as the database and look who popped up!! Amazing!!

Nice fish! I'm not much of a freshwater fisherman, and never have fished through the ice. Bet a big laker would put up quite a struggle on little gear. Lots of big lake trout in the Tikchik lakes, I caught one almost that size out of Chauekuktuli years back.
