I didn't see weights listed for the Marquesa's.

My dream reel is a 2/0 under 20 oz with 20# strike drag, 25# max drag loaded with 300 yds of 65# braid and the anti reverse pall can stand up to bouncing 16-24 oz jigs. I know many companies can make that drag with dual discs but I'm not sure how well they stand up to the pounding of heavy jigs.

I've been thinking about an Avet sx raptor but am not sure if the anti reverse is up to jigs that heavy and I really don't need/want a 2 speed reel.

Marquesa MA12 weighs in at exactly 20oz, capacity is 270yds/50# spectra the 16 is the same reel with a wider frame & spool, 350yds/65# spectra. Both reels have a max drag odf 23# These rely on a anti reverse bearing with a pawl back up...

The reel that will work well for you would be the Okuma Cedros CLD-10S 27# strike drag 34# full with freespool. holds 400yds of 65# spectra, little heavier than you want at 24oz, but a robust reel with a double dog SILENT anti reverse which is bullet proof. The 8S lightens up to 23oz, holding 300yds of 65# spectra. Its the same reel as the 10 except for a narrower spool & frame.

Fell free to ask any further questions you may have.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Chris,

Thanks the 8s sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, I prefer narrower reels. I don't mind a few more ounces for a bullet proof reel. I've just found that a 20oz reel seems to be a nice weight on a jigging rod. I've had a 30 oz reel and it really starts to wear on you with a full day of fishing. So is the 8s availabe in both high speed 6.2:1 and normal 4.1:1? I'd rather go with the 4.1:1

So are you and Doug planning to fish with Art again this summer?

    Paul,

The Cedros 8S is only available in the 6.2:1 ratio. Tha Makaira MK-8II is the same reel in 2 speed, 4.7:1 & 2:1 ratio, and only a couple $$ more than the Cedros. Both reels are in stock.
Typical "jigging" reel guys are looking for 24oz and less... I agree, 30oz wears you out, been there done that!

Headed to ICAST in Vegas in July then leaving Vegas & headed up to Kodiak for 6 days to spend some QT with Art & the boys, our 8th Annual!!

    Kind Regards,
    Chris
