Thread: Generator problems

    Default Generator problems

Anyone out there know what "flashing a generator" is? Think it has something to do with jump-starting the generator to work again. Just had the O360 overhauled and now the generator (which was working fine) won't produce a charge. Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Generally speaking it describes re-energizing the magnetic field of your windings. You can Google some good info. Flashing is specific to generators, not alternators.

I'd check and double-check your wire terminations since you just had the motor and accessories out.

    Hi Mike,

If you're really using a generator, and not an alternator, you might want to check the voltage regulator, too. That's often the trouble when the battery doesn't seem to get anything from the generator. All the ground connections tight, too?

Thanks for the info and the link! I'll give it a shot.
