    Default Recent weather on bears?

I overheard someone saying they saw a couple bears yesterday and that this crazy weather is driving them out. Thoughts?

It's not that uncommon for a bear to take a walk in January...then go back to sleep.

I haven't been out in the woods lately on teh island here. But if I'm working to get the boat in the water already, I bet there's a few bears wandering around. I was almost 50 here yesterday and it's been real warm the last couple weeks.

If my den was flooding I'd probably be up and about too.

Still got a lot of winter to go, but as of now, we had more snow on the mountains in May then we do now.

A big warm spell like this in the middle of winter is a cause of mortality. Bears can/will die of hypotheria in the den.

They get wet in the dens. Don't move to another drier den or dig a new one. It get colder again, like they are calling for, below zero here in town later this week. They freeze to death basially.
