    Default .338-06 Commercial Loads

A few years ago I recall seeing A-Square and Weatherby .338-06 commercial loads in boxes at my gun store. Haven't seen those in a very, very long time. I do reload, but my gear is all secured away right now. Anybody know of anywhere in Anchorage that stocks .338-06 loadings? I haven't seen any in Sportsman's Warehouse.

Not sure about Anchorage, but there is ammo available online:

In the early years A-Square loadings of 338-06 had a reputation, deserved or not, for poor consistency. Now in more recent years they have co-opted the original 338-06 as the "338-06 A-Square", the shoulder angle of which is not the same as the true original 338-06. I don't know if this presents any headspace or other issues, but I would be wary of it, unless your chamber is cut as a 338-06 A-Square.

Thanks. One of my "must" haunts when in town.

"No" at Great Northern, "no" at Sportsmans Warehouse, "no" at a few other spots. The custom handloaders off Boniface near EAFB's main gate (sponsor's of this sub-forum) said they could load some, but not in the timeframe that I was in town.
