    Default Tip up question

I was out fishing today and figured I would try a tip up to fish for burbot, while I jigged for lakers and char. I set it up with a drop shot rig with a circle hook and herring. The question I have is; is a cirlcle hook good for tip ups? What kind of hooks do you guys normally use when fishing with them? BTW, Caught two really nice Char and a few small ones. Only got pics of the small one of the bigger two though. Released them both.

I suppose you could use a circle hook and slowly tighten up on the fish once a flag indicates a fish has taken the bait. I use treble hooks on my tipups, but I am targeting pike, not burbot.

circle hooks, they are less likely to be fatal.other hooks will be swallowed.

That was my thinking behind the circle hook. I would rather release an accidentally caught laker or char. I just wasn't sure if the circle hook would actually work with the tip up.

I strictly use circle hooks for all species, except pike, while using tip-ups
Your bait stinks and your boat is ugly
