Default Last Week on the Denali

Made an attempt to fill a caribou tag in unit 13 via the Denali Hiway. Saw about 50 carribou, 48 of them were in the no hunting zone on the West(Cantwell) end. The other 2 were around Clearwater Creek but were cows. Great trip though unsuccessful. Staying at Alpine Creek Lodge made it a whole lot more comfortable. About 2 foot of snow on the road with about a 4 inch base. Off the road was way to risky still. Hope the video loads.

Oh Yea. We broke about 20 miles of trail on the road. Gorgeous out but pretty nippy. -13 when we rode out with a pretty stiff wind

Was that about 18" of powder atop packed snow? If so, how deep was the packed? How deep was it off the road?

Man Id head caution to roadside boondockin. Them rocks are fierce.

    Good vid tho!
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

There was 18 to 24 inches on the road but there was no base. If you spun your track you went down to the dirt. I would not get off the road yet. There are some big rocks, alders, tree stumps and some open water sprinkled around out there. The road itself where people have been riding has about a 4-6 inch base and is totally doable.

Close, it is a skidoo expedition TUV. Had a roll bar mounted on it for extra lights but it worked well for the gopro too.
