    Default some questions

Barrel length is 20 inches to short to acheive killing velocities out of a 50 cal rifle. Primary targets being Moose and black bear. Range at 100 yards or less.
If 20 is too short, what would be the shortest practical length?

Are percussion hawken style rifles a practical choice for hunting in damp weather.

When shooting conical bullets do you need to use a patch between powder and bullet? < I learned this in muzzle loader class Im sure but I forgot. On that same note how about maxi balls?

    Got my questions answered.
20 inches is a pretty impracticall length apparantley. 24 being miniumum

Percussion caps are practical provided the right precautions are taken to protect from moisture

When shooting conicals, or maxi balls you dont need a button but one can be used.

Thought I would post this since the topic has had some looks but no answers
