I hate it when the wife wants to decorate the trophies...Santa hat on the deer head, tinsel and ornaments on the moose and caribou racks etc.

My boss has his best black bear as a standing mount in his office. During December, his daughter and son-in-law put a black Santa hat with 'Scrooge' on it. It fits him so he leaves it there the whole month.

Is it troll season already? The migration has started. Good luck everyone this year. The limit is generous and ammo cheap. Make sure if you fire at one you've got a clear shot. If they get away they are mean buggers.

I always disliked seeing mounts "dressed" up. I think it is disrespectful to the animal.

It doesn't matter if it is Christmas time or not. I've seen mounts with stuff on them different times of the year and felt the same way. I see no need to lighten up as that's my opinion. I don't get all worked up and go look for whoever did it, but it always has just rubbed me the wrong way.

    To each his own.

Personally I find agressive bear mounts (where the bear is swipping at something with claws extended and teeth barred) to be disrespectful to the animal. The animal probably spends less than 1 total day of his entire life in that pose. The owner seemingly saying, look at the mighty beast I slayed, when most likely the bear had his head down and was feeding on some sedge when he was harvested.

I agree. My bear mounts reflect the memory that I had with that bear. My first bear I mounted with a closed mouth since it was simply walking along the beach when I shot it. The next one I did an open mouth because she just finished tearing this small boar a new hole as he was trying to flirt with her.

You should get a pic & post it if you can. I would like to see Scrooge. (the bear not your boss)

My kids love the idea that "santa" gets to interact with the moose.

The moose has changed over the years

I see "Mr Ram" likes horn rings.... since those things ain't in hes ears.

My Girlfriend ran the Christmas Lights though three sets of antlers to get the "effect" she wanted on the wall!

Here's my bou from 2010. Finally got a house with big enough wall space to hang him. Flew out with 40 Mile Air for an amazing adventure with my father. Currently planning another for 2014. Not many people here in Kansas know what it is when they see it, but it provides me memories of a great adventure every day I walk out the door. Below the bou is this years western Kansas whitetail skull that I just finished last week. He was an old brute that broke off his right side sometime earlier in the year. I love hunting, adventure, and Christmas; So I enjoy it all together.

Looks like those stockings were hung with care!

When the wife made it evident the decorations were happening, I took the lead to make sure the hooks stayed on the horn, and not the ears. Plus the mariner in me had to make sure the red was on the port side. To each his or her own, and Merry Christmas!

My boss did the feral camel hunt in the Australian plains and Knight's did the shoulder mount early this year. It's a pretty remarkable trophy, certainly unique. Amazed that Knight's figured out how to make their own camel mount. Typically I agree, but I think the camel mount is just begging for sunglasses and a cigarette.
