I wanted to give you a Christmas gift and decided this online book that is now in the public domain fit my criteria. I was looking for something Alaskan, historical and talked about an early Alaskan Christmas too. This is an unusual book. Many early Alaskan books were written by hardened men and the flavor of their stories was somewhat similar mainly describing their accomplishments and to a lesser degree surroundings. Rockwell Kent was more of an idealist with thoughts that tended to wander as a free thinker so he reads differently than all of the others from that time era.
So on a day with snow softly falling fire up the wood stove with a fresh log and make yourself a hot cup of cocoa....I hope you enjoy this book.
It was in the year of 1918 that an artist named Rockwell Kent came to Alaska and spent a year on Fox Island just outside of Seward and this is his story.
