Make sure you leave a few so I can get a chance to educate them for you. I think bears with proper hunters education training are an important part of our natural resources.

LOL! I am sure there will be a few around, "maybe". Just remember, if they show, they die. There is no saving for buddies!

It's possible, I had a few areas in mind to try next spring. But it would be a long drive to get to them though from here in wasilla.

Being in the valley is going to make it hard to do the drive back and forth to actively hunt and bait the site for me, so my plan was to go up there (taylor hwy) for a week straight. Find a spot and get bait out the first day and spot-and-stalk hunt for a couple of days while checking the bait site to see if it has been hit yet, and if so, start sitting the bait site. Early May be too soon for up there?

Don't forget that you'll have to salvage the meat! If I read that portion correctly..

I don't have any real desire to bait them, but if I was in an area where it was legal and the opportunity presented itself, I'd definitely shoot one over bait.

I prefer spot and stalk for bears of all colors. Generally, I take 1 black over bait in the spring and them spot and stalk the rest of the year.
