Thread: What is the Best hook/bait for burbot setlines

Default What is the Best hook/bait for burbot setlines

Thinking about setting some lines for burbot, and was wondering what the best brand/size hook is for burbot? I know the hook has to have a gap of 3/4 inch between point and shank. Also, what type of bait is best for the tanana river drainage, and where can you buy it?

    Thanks,

Gamagotzu circle hook with whitefish, it will get them in the corner of the mouth every time. You'll need an 8 OO or so. Good luck with interior Alaska fish processors though, went there a month ago and all they had for whitefish was smoked, couldn't buy it either because the dec had shut down there smoker for what I would assume was a food code violation. Best to catch the whitefish yourself, sweetish pimple and single salmon eggs in slow moving water in the Tanana
