Default How do you see AOD on your screen?

Just curious if folks are reading their favorite time-killing site using threaded, linear, or hybrid thread mode. I'm a linear man myself.

Is this is like when folks ask someone who is color deficient "what does color red (or green or blue etc.) look like to you?".

I'm not even sure what the difference between linear and threaded mode is...

Can you tell us what each of those techno names means? I read it down if that helps?

Linear appears to be default. If I try making changes to anything that's default I will typically have a big fault.........

Not sure and really don't care as long as it's in English and SPAM free.

I was just curious. I like the linear because the most recent post in the thread is at the top. Threaded mode is an aneurysm waiting to happen.

If you hit the little box next to the thread title it will take you to the first new post in the thread. I prefer the oldest posts at the top so that I don't end up replying with out reading through the whole thing. I use tapatalk or the "new posts" links when on the PC which shows all the latest updates since my last login. I rarely ever see the main forum list.

Linear can be set for either top or bottom posting (forward or reverse chronological order). Threaded has to do with the visual layout of the screen and how threads are grouped.

I also prefer linear with bottom posting, so the top most post in a thread is the first one and the most recent is the last. Trying to read a thread backwards would give me an aneurysm for sure.

Huh - learned something new today - apparently I use linear mode. Joats posting above makes my head hurt just trying to understand it!

Threaded... Shows a list of post titles that are broken down by who replied to what post. To read a post, you have to click on the link to that post and then it will open and allow you to read it. A royal PITA, IMHO.

If you want to see what that looks like, just check the gray bar under the thread title (and right over the first post on this screen) and look over to the far right for the drop down item titled "Display". When you click it, you'll get a little menu that will let you quickly switch to Threaded or Hybrid views of this same page.
