Default What 5 guns would you keep?

To lighten the mood a little I was thinking it would be fun to think about this.
If you could only have 5 guns- what would they be? From AK to FL and anywhere in between.

Mine would be my 338-06, 7-08, 12 gauge, 22 rifle, and 45 acp pistol.

    Sure, I'll play.

I'd keep my SS Ruger 10/22 (small game), my 12ga Bennelli SBE (waterfowl, upland birds, small and large game), a scoped SS 30/06 Remington M700 (big critters), an AR style semi-auto .223 (varmits and other small-medium critters), and my 357 Blackhawk (small game-big game) all the above for two-legged ill-intentioned vermon.

Thought about the 45LC instead of the 357, but in consideration of the AK to FL area coverage, the 357 ammo would lighter and more packable, and that particular 357 has proven very accurate on smaller game with minimal damage when using 38 spc FMJ ammo, and plenty of stopping power for all but the brown bears. While I like my 45 for brown bear protection, I prefer the improved accuracy at longer ranges I get with the 357 over the larger bored handguns.

Really had to think hard on this. Just 5 guns, thats like asking my wife to settle on 5 pairs of shoes.

Ruger M77 338 for meat runs
Ruger 10/22 for small game/plinking practice
    Glock 23 for self protection
12 GA pump for all around go to gun and ammo availability/flexibility.
.223/5.56 rifle for protection/varmit/ammo availability and flexibility (This was the hardest decision as I am not really a fan of this caliber but ammo availability was deciding factor.

    I love this topic

    22lr
    12 ga
    9mm
    45 mag
    30-06

The 22lr I would want in the 10/22, they work really well, easy to operate and clean, very reliable.
12ga pump for birds up to big game at close ranges. Also home defense. Easy to operate, reliable, easy to find ammo from bird shot, buck shot to slugs.
9mm for two legged predators. Something my wife can use too.
45 mag for bigger critters, more packable than the 12 ga. I would really only want this if I was in AK, otherwise my pistol choices would be different.
30-06 bolt action, controlled feed with a scope and iron sights as well. Good choices of ammo. It will kill anything. Again, not too big that my wife can't use it. You could substitute a bunch of guns here and not be wrong. 7mm, 338win, 300win etc..

I might want to switch out one of the guns above for an AR15 depending on the political climate I anticipate living in. Depends on what needs to be shot I guess.

Funny thing is, I don't have all of these guns. I live in a country that lets me have a whole bunch of cool guns. Mine tend to be more specialized than utilitarian as of late. I also have a very cool wife. She has just recently taken to nagging me about getting a bigger gun safe so that we can put them all away when we have a house full of little people. Not nagging about how many I have.

There's more calibers than be 45-70?
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

Since I made this decision in the last few weeks, it's pretty simple to me.. All my other guns are basically extras beyond these.

    1- bolt action .22LR
    1- 9 mm pistol
    1- 5.56 AR-15
    1- 30-06 bolt action rifle
1- 12 ga pump action shot gun

    Just 5? wow.

    Hmm.....
    Nosler 48 .300WSM
    Steyr Scout .308Win.
    A .375- probably a Sako Kodiak.
    Browning T-bolt .22LR or a CZ 452
Benelli M2 12 ga. with a couple of barrel lengths.

Not much real use for pistols when I'm limited to just 5.

Doug, I like your thinking except I'd probably opt for a 4 in 686 in 357 instead of the 9mm.

    .22 with a tube magazine
    .300 win
    .458
    12ga 870
    .45 glock.

Take a .243 or .223/5.56 depending on where I was living instead of the .458

I was wondering how you like the MR 10/22. Did you consider/compare the Volquartsons rifles? They look similar to me on the sites but I have not been able to handle one and would like to get one or the other. Any input would be appreciated.
