    Default Permit Question

I have two friends that will be becoming residents within the next couple of months. (One at the end of December and one in February).

Can they put in for any permits if they will be a residents at the time of the hunt?

    yes.
they still need to have a hunting license to apply, but they can use a non-res small game license.

Ok thanks! I've already had them out to bag a few ptarmigan so they have their non-resident small game license.

So they are allowed to apply for resident tags as well?

Yes, as long as they will be residents by the time of the hunt, and have a current hunting license of any kind.

I had a deck hand living in Washington this season.. was so proud of them self for getting an Alaska drivers licence, an address in Seward... and then getting a resident commercial fishing licence.. who knows what else(actually I have an idea)..

ran it by the permanent fund folks, and they never even bothered to get back to me.. but a resident shoots a 49 inch moose trying to feed their family and they take your meat and gun..

Happy Thanksgiving all.. seriously.. love this site.. great info..
