Very nice indeed. That ice sure looks nice and clear. You must have been able to see them strike your lure under the ice.

A friend of mine who works in Anchorage told me this morning he found out people are getting "fines" for walking on thin ice in Anchorage and ice fishing. Any one else heard of this?

I am really looking forward to getting out and doing some ice fishing but want to wait till there is about 8 inches or so. Looking at your picture there bvtzy is NOT helping me LOL. Makes me want to go out even more!

get out to wasilla, they dont care how thin it is, they have so many meth heads to deal with they aint got time to knit-pick.

I was able to drill my first holes in ice for the season and soak some bait. No hits, but I plan to fix that in the next few days. This was in the Glennallen general area (where I always go in the beginning of the season since it freezes up there first), and the ice was 5" thick.

I actually live out close to Biglake (May be worse lol) so I'm not to worried about getting a fine for being on thin ice, it more or less just kinda took me by surprise. I am not sure what Im doing for sure this weekend but I might be going rabbit hunting again with some friends, but I may try to persuade them to try some ice fishing. If all else fails the fallowing weekend I plan on getting out there, just have to figure out which lake I want to try first.

About six inches, and the water under us was only 2 feet deep. We are very cautious when we first go out fishing.

Just drove past Mirror Lake (near eklutna), and there was two guys out on the middle of the lake fishing. I'm gonna give it another week or two before I venture out on some ice.

Wish they would check on Quartz lake a little more. There is a certain group of individuals that hit that lake hard during the first month of hardwater. I have seen those indviduals load up on fish and head back to Delta and then come back for another load in the same day. It is pathetic.
