Default Bear on Montague in December.

Going to make my second outing for deer this year. Booked the cabin on Montague for December, and have plans laid on with a water taxi.

My question, is what is the likely hood of seeing a bear on Montague in December? Was thinking about taking a smaller rifle, since I'm primarily after deer, but I'm not sure if everything will be denned up down south by then?

Will depend on the weather. Just be observant and be careful around streams and brush patches.
An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

Well I wouldn't count on a bear in dec nor would I worry.
Ill be out there the last two weeks of nov. which cabin are you staying at.
Do I give my friends advice? Jesus, no. They wouldn't take advice from me. Nobody should take advice from me. I haven't got a clue about anything..

We we hunting Hitchenbrook a few year ago in late December. A a BIG bear was out, we had a tag and were not certain it was still open. Found out later that it was open. I would keep an eye out just in case, we were not expecting to see any bears.
