    Default Contender Trigger Guard?

At a trip to the range this afternoon I discovered that my T/C Contender will not fire. Close inspection revealed that the trigger guard is not closing upon which I discovered the wings that abut the guard screw are broken and missing. This is the problem keeping the gun from firing. Can the guard be repaired? If not can someone recommend a place to find a new trigger guard?

"Lifetime Limited Warrantee" I suggest you contact TC customer service.

Call T/C it's still in warranty.

Be sure to call. TC has gone through a move and ownership changes, and things are changing in the company. They had the same lifetime promise on their Hawken muzzleloaders, but after the move they've stopped honoring it. "Tuff" is basically what they're saying to owners with problems these days.

Finally got a response from T/C--$43 and change for a new trigger guard shipped to me. It could have been worse.

So did they decline to cover it under warrantee or did you just ask to buy a trigger guard?

Yeah, no joy on the warranty. I asked about having the frame/trigger guard repaired and they made no offer to repair it, but after some checking they were "willing" to sell me the part......

I figure $43 every 25+ years is a fairly small price for admission for the joys of using a Contender.

Bummer on the warranty. I have three firearms from Thompson Center. Guess they have a different "lifetime" than I do.

Glad to hear you can get yours up and running again.

A guarantee, or warranty, is only as good as whoever gives it to ya.

I agree Smitty. With very few exceptions, warranties do not influence my decision making process on such purchases.....

I guess Smith & Wesson doesn't think it needs to warrant T/C's older models, before they owned the company.
