Default LB's and TeacherMans 2012-2013 trapline journal

Well, season is right around the corner here so I figured we'd get things up and going. Guess we'll start out with today, a few days ago I had time set a few rat/beav traps to get a bit more bait in unit 13. Had a pretty good catch rate, I'd say right around 90% or so. Here's a few pics.. These were under ice sets by the way..lots of fun.

Here's TM with a little guy

    Gotta love bank dens!

Been a crazy season with the heavy rain and then cold snap up north but we have managed to get quite a few rats and beaver put up already! Little bit of under ice rat trapping today. Really excited for cat and fox to open!!!

LB with a nice cross over set and then a 110 set on a bubble trail, both picked up rats.

Gotta love those sets everybody walks right by and can't see.

Me and Teacherman will be dumping a bait pile in unit 13 this weekend. 7-8 beaver should do the trick. Can't wait to get out of the water and get the real line up and going!

Went out yesterday with LB and made a bunch of snare pens so come Nov. 10 we can just go in bait and hang snares! Getting a little tired of beaver trapping and really ready to focus on cats, fox and marten!

Subscription started! Looking forward to the thread, and might even start one myself once Nov 10th rolls around. Will be running several miles with my son, wife, and Chrissy the cook alternating marten and fox sets, with the occasional otter, lynx, coyote and wolf sets.

Good luck to all this season!

Remember, just because it's open doesn't mean the fur is ready. Most cats are still red and darker in color. Best to wait till mid Dec for cats, BIG difference! As for K9's, go get em!

Early cats go to the taxi market. I've been making more on them than NAFA on prime animals.

Doesn't matter where you sell them. Especially the taxi market, you want good prime pelts with clear coloring. It's amazing how much waiting another 3-4 weeks will do. Good luck!
