Check out page 5 of the hunting regs, left side under "caribou". Unit 25A now requires the meat to be left on the bone prior to October 1.

EDIT: Also mentioned in the "Identifying a Legal Caribou" section

Not all of it is in unit 26, a small part is in 25A and a big section is in 24, both of which have the meat on bone requirement prior to October 1. You are correct that unit 26 does not have this requirement.

I would hope nobody made a big deal about it since you adhered to the regulations and brought it out on the bone since it was prior to 1 Oct.

Don't forget the "Hail Marry" is a legit shooting tactic into a herd. Somethings gotta take an arrow, right?

Plus with broad-heads you don't be messy bloodshot meat.

    Good luck
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

To the original post - this was something I brought up earlier in the year when I saw the regulation change. The portion of the road in 25A includes the Chandalar Shelf, which is a good hunting spot for the spring hunt. I think we need to play a more active role in these decisions, as they are often made without considering all the potential ramifications. I, personally, want to petition them to change it back, to get rid of the bone-in req for 25A, or at least make an exception for folks walking (or skiing) in from the Haul Road, as I do not think walk-in hunters were considered with this regulation. Unfortunately, I was told that essentially nothing could be done for two years, so keep it in the back of your mind. I'll be looking for support in a year and a half. -gr
