Default OB Jet pump shaft question

So I pulled my impeller tonight (heading off tomorrow) to sharpen/shim it, and I noticed what looks like heat sign on my shaft. It has some slight blueing on it.
Can't for the life of me recall if it was there before.
The pump was new last year, and I have maybe 40 hours on it. I'm religous on greasing it before/during and after use. No sign of heat on the shim, and the bottom end of the bearing looks fine.
    Feel free to chime in.
    Thanks
    Paul

Could just be from heat treating the shaft? I haven't had one apart in 20 years so can't recall but seriously doubt there is anyway to heat a shaft up enough to do that without taking out the bearing.

There is a blue discoloration to the shafts right from the factory. Your's is probably normal.

The bottom of the bearing has a seal, if that seal looks to be intact then the color was there before. If that bearing were to fail and get so hot as to blue the shaft the seal would be burned dust and the pump housing would more than likely be trashed, the shaft would have noticeable lateral movement as well.
