well started off with a couple weeks off work. turns out i didn't need all that time. the wife and i headed out in our boat wednesday and set up camp. didn't hunt the first night got there just before dark. woke up in the morning to a heavy layer of frost which made for crunchy travel. it was no surprise we didn't see anything that morning. after about 4 or 5 hours of hunting we headed back to camp and jumped in the tent for a nap. woke up and got in the boat and started hunting around 6pm boated upstream a ways. parked the boat a walked about 100yrds. must have hunted this particular spot at least a handful of time in the last couple years and had never seen a moose but in shooting range was a nice set of paddles swiveling around above the brush. as the wife watched in the binos i set up for a shot and squeezed. he rolled around got up and looked hurt and walked out into an opening after another couple shots he dropped closer to the water than where he started. the shots from the .300 win mag all hit solid and after extracting one of the bullets retained most of its mass. just a tough critter i guess. went back and got the boat and found a little slough i was able to get the boat within about 40 yrds of him. after about 3 1/2 to 4 hours i had him all in the boat. not a bad day. heres a pic you guys are good at guessing spread so i'll let you figure it out.
