Default Dave Bayes #375 halibut release makes national news

I don't know Dave personally but this story has done more to legitimize releasing big halibut than anything I have seen.
    Good Work!

Check out these two - one at 275 I let go way, way offshore in 2009 and the fish of a lifetime that Steve and Ben from Profish-n-Sea let go a few years ago - well over 400 I would imagine...

They should put a "release a giant" sticky on this forum so we can all add photos like this releasing big halibut and kings.

Yeah, I agree with all that,...Outstanding,...

for both, the charter industry,...and the future of the Mama Halibut,...that's just great national exposure

Very impressive! Great catch as well.
That young lady has earned a lot of respect from other fisherman.

What would impress me even further would be if a commerical fisher person would of released it.

That little girl has set the bar for all of the rest of us for the big breeders. Let them go and we can all enjoy halibut fishing for a long time.

Right on, great video if that's what it takes to make it legitimate so be it, maybe some of the guys will quit arguing with me about releasing large fish, let's get the sticky going ive got pictures to post. that second picture is incredible. Let the legends live on. I want to start tagging my releases.

Neat story. I don't know about letting a 16 year old out on the swim step with no PFD though. Those big halibut can go nuts with no warning as well. Glad it worked out for them though.

Thanks for posting this! I'm way more excited to look at pictures of released giant halibut than of them hanging upside down at the dock!
