I was wondering the same thing. With the big Su pushing flood levels, I'd be betting that the Talkeetna is going to be up and dirty. If anyone has been up there in the last day or 3, is that accurate or am I way off base here?

Not currently flooding. Just below action stage. Projected to reach minor flood stage tomorrow midday.

Probably not a major flood but it sure isn't going to be flowing clear anytime soon.

The susitna river is currently progged to crest at 23.6 feet friday morning (parks hwy gage) which would exceed the record set in the 2006 August flooding.

Little Su is not too bad this time around luckily.

Talkeetna will probably crest about the same as during the 2006 flood. There was a flood back in the 80s on the talkeetna that was much worse though.

I find it interesting that some usgs folks were calling the 2006 flooding a 100 year flood for the susitna. When I mentioned that it seemed like both a misnomer and a ridiculous classification since weather/climate fluctuates and or records don't even go back 50 years, much less 100, I got the cold shoulder. Oh well.

I'll have to see that to believe it. The river was higher this summer then it is now. (Not saying it will not)

Sometimes there are quirks in the gage graphs... All I said is that it was predicting that. Looks like it could come up five more feet, which seems like a lot of water. No guarantees of course. Totally agree that seeing is believing.

I'm always impressed at how quickly a river can turn angry. Too bad about the truck... we need to collectively have more respect for these water bodies and the wetlands along them. Hope all is well with your friends roger.

Lots of folks living along the little su, wasilla creek, moose creek, whose quaint riverside houses aren't seeming so quaint right about now.

We've gotta stop building in these floodplains. Remote cabins are one thing, **** happens, but in the developed part of the mat-su we have got to get smarter...

drove from Healy to Soldotna today. Every river/creek we crossed had very high water levels. The Nenana river was flat out scary looking.
