    Default Brooks Griz

Here s a couple pics from a Grizzly I got a couple weeks ago on our way back from a sheep hunt in the brooks. Could not believe I was able to get within bow range. He new I was there and just kept coming in closer to see what I was until a perfect heart shot turned him around.

Only one arrow left in the quiver to... I love the dark legs and silver shoulders on that bear! Were you alone on the stalk or did you have someone you backing you up with a boom-stick?

Very cool! It's always fun getting a critter with the bow, could only imagine how exciting a grizz would be. Congrats!

Ya it all happened so quick, I only had 3 arrows in the quiver and my backup was sitting in the truck watching through his binos as it all happened. I didnt really even think about it until it was finished but I was a rush of a lifetime that was probably dumb not to have someone there to back me up. I dont have a measurement on the skull yet but the taxidermist said it should go pope and young. I always said if I get a griz that I would want it to be a brooks range griz because the are so pretty. I guess luck was on my side this time!!

He made it about 30 yds after the shot. A clean pass through, I could not believe it.

Man....you were really taking your life in your hands without a backup ready, and for that I have to say Kudos to you buddy. Absolutely beautiful bear...!!! You should be VERY proud of yourself...!!!

How close was he when you stuck him...???

Thanks, He was 40 yds away when I took the shot. So probably only 2 seconds away from me!! Kinda scary to think about it that way!

Great bear! Love the colors. Glad to see that ole Pull Snap Explode (PSE) work with the backup in the truck. Just Kidding. Had to raz ya a bit there. Can't wait to have that adrenaline rush myself. Congrats!

That is a great bear and quite an accomplishment. Since you said he knew you were there, was he just curious? Pretty interesting that he got that close. Thanks for the pics and story.

Seeing that you said he knew you were there, I'd say you got very lucky to get the broadside shot you did. I remember reading an article about a guy that waited on a big griz with a bow. The bear came so close and the guy never had a shot. Finally the bear actually saw him, and without knowing what he was, walk directly towards him......still no shot. The backup/guide had to shoot him from a distance away as the bear was pretty much on top of him.
