Default Fairbanks accommodations near the airport

Yeah wrong forum but he traffic is good.

Anywhere near the airport to pitch a tent??

Legit to do so at the float pond?
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

On the south end of the airport are the dike roads, and there are areas that you can set up back there. I'm not sure on the legality, but people camp, and play around back there quite a bit. Not sure about the float pond, but if you are only doing so for one night, I don't think anybody would mess with you.

Fairbanks if a little more laid back than Anchorage. Never seen anyone get hassles back by the float pond and like Jerod mentions the dikes are right there as well as a bunch of trails, finding a camping spot for a night or two won't be a problem.

I will gladly trade you Fairbanks for Anchorage any day. I would love to get a real summer once again and be able to only drive 30 mins from my house and get away from people.

On the north end of the airport there is actually a camping area inside the airport. It has some nice log gazebos, barbeques and even a shower house. It's actually really deluxe for pilots and others travelling through. You can taxi a wheel plane right into the area, you would have a short walk from the float pond.
