    Default First time European

Took my son out hunting a couple weeks ago for Caribou. Was our first hunt together where he was the shooter. We were bale to take the largest animal we saw while out and I promised him I would have a European done with it. I talked to a couple people to do the work but the last one I called suggested I do the work myself. Said it would be a good project and he would answer any questions I may have. He was happy if I dropped it off to him but did throw out the suggestion. I decided to take on the project thinking it would be more special for my Son and give me some experiance trying not to vomit. Took me a while but I got it done. Stripping the velvet was a chore but a pressure washer sure helps get the membrane off easier. I think I found myself a new hobby. It's probaly not the best but thought I would share.

Great job to you and congrats to the young man. Now once it's all dried out you can apply some stain to them and it'll look even better.

Very nice and you're not having to struggle with a taxidermist who promised 3 weeks, and now a year later I still don't have my son's euro mount back. I wish I had used your method.

Part of the reason I did it myself is I still havent got my wifes bou back from last year.

What is the best way to stain the antler and make it look natural. That may be an art in it's self!
