Default Just got my son's black bear back from taxidermist

We picked up my sons bear from the Taxidermist last night. I think he did a great job in making the bear look angry like my son wanted. Ears laid back, back hair standing up, head cocked sideways and drooling! my son was very happy. this was the bear he shot last year out of Coffman cove on a DIY hunt. Definitely not a huge bear, but a trophy none the less for a 12 year old! And it fits perfectly in my Man Cave!

Very nice...well done to you both! But I'm afraid you'll have to change the name of the room to "The Men's Cave"!

The open mouth is tough but your taxi pulled it off nicely. Quite a gift for a 12 year old - Way to go dad.

He was using a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington with a Cabelas Leverevolution scope. handloads with Hornady 200 gn. FTX bullets.
He spotted it at 1500yds, stalked it, and nailed it at 186 yds with me right behind him the whole time.

Great mount! I'm usually not a fan of the open mouth but that looks great.

Great job kiddo! Be sure to tell your dad thanks. Looks like a great trip, nothing beats spending time with mother nature and family/friends.

I'll echo everyone else but that mount is OUTSTANDING!! I will admit that I tense up every time someone posts a 'I just got my ___ back from the taxidermist' thread, but this looks really nice...congrats to the boy!

Thanks everyone. Even the dogs are afraid of it and won't go in the "Men's Cave" anymore. When my German Shorthair saw it, he yelped and hid under a table.
Getting stoked for my Moose hunt out of Tok next week! The area biologist said the moose in area 12 did well through the rough winter, hopefully we get lucky and give one or two a dirt nap!

Congrats to you for getting your son out there with you, and congrats to him for the excellent hunting and shooting! That beautiful piece of taxidermy work will bring a lifetime of memories for you both, and you'll get to re-live the hunt every time someone new gets startled by it when they walk into your "men's cave".

The other 299,300,000 people can have it.

Noone has a more intimate understanding of, or deeper appreciation for freedom, than a soldier who has fought for it in a country where it does not exist.
