Thread: Taxidermy question

  1. #1

    Default Taxidermy question

I'm looking for referals for a good taxidermist in the Anchorage/Kenai area. Specifically someone that does a bear rug, good quality and reasonable price.

    Thanks in advance.

Take a look at Hoytguy on here, he runs Dahlbergs Taxidermy in the Valley and has a good reputation and is well known on this forum. I have had some friends use Tall Tales taxidermy in Anchorage and they spoke highly of them.

+1 for Hoytguy (Jesse). I've had him work on three brown bears for me and he's done several other brown bears for hunting partners. Always top notch work and communication. I hope to send him another bear in the near future.....

Go see Jesse (Hoytguy) or RJ Simington. Ask them about their two week turn around special.

You can call me any time. 8 am, till 10 pm, 7 days a week. Allot of guys know what their doing prior to going to the field, if not, I can give ya some helpful advice so you don't ruin your trophy.,

Remember, 1 extra foot of hide is good, 1" too short is bad.

A caribou in velvet, the velvet needs to be attended to in 48-36 hours. Any longer than that is a risk., their are exceptions. Cool, dry, shade, freezer, etc.
