10 is the max for a poll so I grouped Coastal/Kodiak and Griz together as Brown Bears

Sitka deer, because I have much love and respect for them. A sustainable hunt able population with liberal bag limits = win win

    Next.... Bring on the mountains

I voted sheep, brown bear, and sitka deer. They all hold a special place in my heart and mind.

#1 is sheep for me. So far, this is the toughest thing I've hunted, but also the most rewarding.

Moose, as I get to hunt them every year. Sheep for obvious reasons, and brown bear for the sheer excitement/pucker factor.

Sitka Deer, for much of the same reason as BigHorse. Also I grew up hunting them so there's some sentimental factor involved. And I can shoot them in my back yard.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

It always seems that whatever I'm getting ready to hunt or just got back from hunting pops into my head as my favorite animal. Bison are cool because they a make you feel like you took a step back in time to the settler days. The problem is that it's close to impossible to draw a tag so actually drawing makes it a very special hunt.

Glassing a group of musk ox bulls out on the frozen wind stepped tundra takes you to a whole other world as well, almost prehistoric. A more accessible hunt than bison, but probably not one you'll get to do more than once or twice in a lifetime. Unless that is you find yourself living somewhere like Nome or Kotz.

I guess I'll click my top three, even though they'll change next month.

For me it's based on taste.

    Bison
    Moose
    Sitka deer

I prefer to shoot things I can eat.
Sitka deer and caribou were a toss-up since I could only pick three.
    Now what ?

brown bear, sheep, then goats. for me its the animals ability to be "smart" first: hence the great bears. their ability to learn and their intolerance when their number one sense (smell of course) is assaulted. the mountains animals are my second and third because of the country they haunt, though i dont have the slightest notion that their ability to learn compares to a bears...i've noticed the margin for error is more when abusing a ram or billies eyesight than when disturbing a bears nose...no comparison so far in my experience...rams and goats have given me far more leeway to continue a stalk after them seeing something out of place...whearas in my experience when you blow it with a big male brownie, the game is up...you lose. i love that. on the other hand the more i learn of sheep the more i love em...i love the high country, and the rams and billies arent to be found in the bottoms. moose and caribou are dumb groceries...but i love em for that! as for taste: the only thing that i have eaten that compares to dall sheep is an early season sitka....****...i kinda like all of em for some reason or other

I'm with stevelyn, as far as it being about taste. I prefer not to kill it if I'm not going to eat it. If I'm going to eat it, my preference is elk, caribou, bison, deer, sheep, goat, bear, musk ox...more or less in that order.

Sheep first, Best wild game I've ever eaten, Most beautiful country and demanding. Haven't connected on a Grizz yet but would be my second, Moose third, Just a great hunt, 2nd Favorite to eat. But haven't hunted any of the others, so time will tell.

It's sheep season, so the results are gonna be weighted their way.

Interesting order on taste. If I knew how to put together a poll, I'd do one on best tasting game.

Sheep most popular to hunt, my $$ say in a tastiness poll, they'd be #1 as well.

The results seem to be about what I was thinking - thanks for playing everyone. I almost left elk off the poll since hunting them in Alaska is so limited. I figure that's why it's so low. For me brown bear and sheep are at the top with moose, goat, muskox, and caribou running just a step behind. I've only ate black bear, deer (whitetail), and elk so I'm not sure how I'd rank them all on taste. Of those I've had I prefer ground black bear over deer and elk, but elk for sausage and steaks.

Black bear is #1 for me, followed closely by moose and brown bear. Hard to beat the many hunting opportunities black bears provide, no closed season, large bag limit and baiting them is a lot of fun...not to mention they are very good eating.
