Question Can squirrels see blaze orange?

Been wrestling with this for years. Can squirrels see blaze orange? Anyone out there using blaze camouflage for deer have squirrels not notice you? I know birds like crows an turkeys sure can see it, always hunted in camo or drabs for squirrel but for safety would like blaze in moderation. Thanks!

We dont shoot deer up here except for way down south. No turkeys either nor is blaze a requirement here like many other states. In my expirence up here there are TONS of squirrels and they dont care what you are wearing.

Trapped in Ohio right now so trying to enjoy the big fox squirrels before I make the move up there. Pine (red) squirrels are very ornery, so I do see how those would not care about anything other than gnawing on things...hope to be up there when I get my master's degree because a Bachelor's degree is not opening to many positions up there...

Yes squirrels can see blaze orange, there not blind. Do squirrels see blaze orange the same way we do I doubt it. What ever the color is it one color, you would go hunting in a bright red, blue or green coat? Your problem may not be there seeing you, maybe they hear you coming? Just a thought.

The consensus seems to be that yes, squirrels can see colors. The following site suggests that squirrels see color, but that they are blue/yellow colorblind: http://www.blackmouthcur.com/Gray%20Squirrels.htm. At the Cabela's forums, a guy responded to this question by quoting from a site on squirrels that indicates squirrles have dichromatic color vision: https://forums.cabelas.com/showthread.php?t=15442. This article on squirrel hunting makes a similar assertion: http://www.gameandfishmag.com/2009/0...irrel-hunting/.

Great info! That definitely sheds more light on that subject. Now I just have to loose the nervous leg want to keep walking syndrome lol! Sit still, keep quiet seems to work best, we are in the squirrel's world, and they have a penthouse view!
