East fork of the Kings River will show some good color if you are willing to work for it. Atv in from the Permenente trailhead. Several old mining claims used to be back in there.

I know that Kings River trail is open and you can get to the Permenente trail from there. The problem with permenene is that you climb to the snow elevations.

Just saw a post on Arctic Trails, Permenente is most likely open now, Kings River appears to be fully open but muddy.

My most unusual find was a volcanic rock that is really solid and glassy black with heavy lead veins running through it like fingers with negative and positive bubbles and voids on the surface. Really quite a neat rock! Found it against a ditch bank working the edge with a detector (GP Extreme) at a right angle. it was only a few feet deep.
Science has a rich history of proving itself wrong.

    Default oddest find

That would require a really good memory on my part to think that far in the past. I've been swinging a detector for over 30 years. Some of the strange finds that I've made have been: a 1.5" adjustable wrench, a partial dental plate, brass buttons, a thimble, a boy scout emblem, broaches and pins, foreign coins, and a fishing lure among others.
