    Default Ducks on the Yetna????

Somebody last season posted on here about hunting around some of the sloughs and bars of the lower yetna, I was just wondering how they did and if it was worth the gas running that far. It's a interesting idea to me and might try it in the 2nd half of the season. Bud

I remember last year, you took a run up there and said you had seen some birds. I think it was late in Sep. That made me wonder if it would be worth a trip for me also. I have a cabin just below the big bend and thought a nice moose/duck combo might be in the future.

I think somebody else responded saying they were going and had done some hunting up there. I think best bet there would be in Oct after a lot of the inland lakes freeze and before the river gets ice. Bud

I would have to agree with Bud on this. the mouth and flats over there will hold a lot of birds and does during the early season...hunting rivers is more productive in October or after the lakes and smaller rivers lock up...lot experience hunting rivers and ice. not saying you won't kill birds, you just won't see the numbers as you would later in the season. remember this is the land of a million lakes...lol
