    Default 6.8 SPC Bullet Weights on the Heavy end....????

    Have you seen a article or have any experience with heavier weight bullets in the 6.8 SPC.

    No personal experience, but Bison Armory has an entire setup for subsonic 6.8 (http://bisonarmory.com/6-8mm-subsonic/). I've only bought a Black River Tactical Linear Comp (muzzle device) from them.

    Stag AR with 24 inch poly rifled Black Hole Weaponry Barrel
    12 power Pentex Scope.
    100 yards, rain, 12 knot winds, 42 degree F.

    All Loads SSA once fired brass. CCI 450 magnum primers (saving my military primers)
    Lee factory Crimp on all loads.
    Chronograph at 10 feet from muzzle.


    130gr Sierra Soft Point flat base

    27.0gr AA-2200
    2.280 col
    Vel=2,658 fps and a 1.0 inch group
    Dirty necks
    Muzzle Energy 2,039 ft lbs. Point Blank hunting range of 263 yards
    Holds 1,000 foot pounds out to 425 yards.

    150gr Speer Soft Point Flat Base
    25.0gr AA-2200
    2.280 col
    Vel= 2,360 fps and a CLOVERLEAF HOLE
    dirty necks, semi-flat primers
    Muzzle Energy 1,855 foot pounds, Point Blank hunting range 237 yards
    Holds 1,000 ft lbs out to 375 yards

    Equal quality a AR-15 in 6.8SPC will run about the same as a AR-15 in .223/5.56 The snot ball is ammo cost about $20.00 for factory.

    Rifle: Stag 16 inch flat-top, 1 in 10 twist SPCII chamber, A2 buttstock with Tubbs flat spring

    Sights: Fixed 6 power Leupold. FXIII 42mm Heavy Duplex
    Range 100 yards
    Temp: 32F to Positive 35 degrees F , Pos 2-5 C average
    Light: Bright light on snow.

    LOADS:
    A:
    Bullet: 150 grain Winchester Round Nose, flat base
    Powder: 24.0 grains AA 2230

    Primer: CCI-400small rifle, hand seated
    Brass: SSA
    COL: 2.255 inch Lee Factory Crimp

    Velocity average: 1,800 fps 28 fps ES
    3 inch group. OK primers

    B:
    Bullet: 150 grain Winchester RN, flat base
    Powder: 27.0 grains, WW-748
    Primer: CCI-400 small rifle, hand seated

    Velocity average: 1,920 fps 39 fps ES

    Velocity average: 1,845 fps 30 fps ES
    2.75 inch group, Clean, Some Pressure signs,



    150 grain bullets from 24 inch BHW barrel:
    150 grain Speer SP flat base
    24.0 grains N-133
    SSA Brass / Br-4 primer
    2.290 col No Crimp
    Vel: = 2,060fps hi 2,045 fps lo
    1.65 inch group
    Semi flat primers, no ejector marks
    Clean brass.


    old straight X bullets. So I started with a mild load of 22.0 grains of WW-748 and a COL of 2.300 inches. I used SSA virgin brass and a CCI-41 primer. The average velocity was 1,686 fps



    150gr old X bullets.... (short range zombie shredders)
    23.0 grains of Xterminator
    SSA brass / CCI-41
    2.295 col, Lee Crimp
    Lo= 2,040 fps Hi= 2,052 fps. Yawing at 50 yards. No pressure signs. Feeds well.

    Thanks for the information. I have another 6.8 SPC (Upper) coming in the mail tomorrow. Noveske 12.5" barrel.
