    Default Pre-season reminder....

We're now a few days into the season. Folks are on the road lookin for caribou, archery moose is in swing, and we are on day 2 of sheep season.

Just got word that a friend of mine was on a sheep hunt is in the hospital with broken ribs and a punctured lung. Had to to be flown out of the hills via helicopter.

Already several fatalities this year involving out of doors recreation.

Bottom line, be safe. Know your limits.
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

Make that 7 broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung that hasn't required surgery yet.

    Hard and fast reminder folks!

Accidents do happen when least expected.

I put my dad on a chopper 4 seasons ago for **** near the same thing.

    Just be careful!

Wow, that will hurt for a while as long as the lung heals up. I had pneumonia last winter and broke 1 rib while coughing. Took a while but they heal. Prayers going his way..

I disagree with you on that. Broken ribs heal eventually but how many chances do you have at a 11 foot brown bear or a 40 inch or larger ram?

This is one of the problems going solo. As careful as you try to be, things happen. I'm the worlds worst at going places by myself. Hope he has a fast recovery!

I don't have too many details at this point other than a bad call in foggy conditions -atv related.

It wasn't a solo hunt and she will certainly heal. Should be out of the hospital today pending chest X-rays.

Yes, if you're lucky enough to get away with that.......any worse tho and the bear could be 12' or the ram 50"......wouldn't matter cause you won't be around to enjoy it.....
