Your options for Anchorage and the immediate area will be Ship Creek (downtown Anchorage) and Bird Creek (about 20 miles south of town). Do a search through the forum archives for these terms and you'll find lots of information.

Stocked silvers show up the first week of august (ship creek etc) native silvers show up around the last, and I'm not telling where the native silvers are, just theres a ton of them
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

There's a Clarion Inn literally right across the street from Ship Creek. Otherwise you'll be looking at the downtown hotels, which during tourist season are anything but cheap.

Any of the downtown hotels are in walking distance from Ship Creek, Eagle River is about 15 miles from downtown, so, if you want to walk to SC don't stay there.

Puffin Inn is out by the airport (3 miles?)
Never heard of America's best. Or Alaska Select
Actually the only other one I"ve seen is the Anchor Inn, and well it is not very nice.

    Try, Aspen hotel in Downtown
    Clarion suties
    Dukes 8th ave Inn
    Comfort Inn

Then there a BUNCH of new ones on Tudor and C street.

Not a hotel, but there is a RV/Campground on Ship. Might be an option for you. I've even seen tents set up there. There have been folks who regularly use the campground each year and fish the Ship salmon runs. Anyway, just a thought.

I have caught silvers in the middle of July, and the early run was THICK! If I was in your position I would bring your fishing gear a good pair of chest waders and stay at that hotel right on Ship Creek! Or you could join the Homless Hotel and pitch a tent right above the cables in the woods.
