    Default Rockfish

What is the daily limit for rockfish in Prince William Sound. I've seen 2 and 4 and don't want to be caught with illegal fish .

    Thanks

May 1st to Sept 15 the limit is 4 per day with no more than 2 non-pelagic. Sept 16 to April 30 the limit is 8 with no more than 2 non-pelagic.

The limit is 2/day for non-pelagic species. Most rockfish in the Sound are non-pelagic, including commonly caught species such as yelloweye, copper, and quillback. The only ones with a higher limit are pelagic species such as dusky and black rockfish. I can't recall off-hand what the limit is on those. Get yourself a copy of the regulations at Wal-Mart or Fred Meyer and double-check. Telling the Trooper that you read it on this forum isn't going to cut it if our advice is wrong.

Yeah, or go the ADF&G site and print them up.

YES to what Brian is saying. I've said it about a thousand times (maybe a slight exaggeration) in other threads. DO NOT go by what someone tells you on this forum if it has to do with a law that applies to where you plan on fishing. Get a copy of the regs and make sure you know exactly what can or can't be done or caught where you want to fish. If there is any interpretation questions you might have ask a fish and game person for clarification.

    Default additional note....

Read the Regs! They are online at the link that AKfishkiller gave you.... However, read it careful as, you have to retain the first 2 non-pelagic. More good reading would be the thread on releasing at depth...
Don't get schooled, know the rules!
