    Default Fishing at Jims Creek, Tail Race and Cottonwood creek

    Heard that Jims Creek is still very slow but the tail race has been pretty hot if you want to stand in a confined space with a couple hundred other people. Gonig to try and make it out to Jim Creek this weekend and check it out. Has anyone heard anything on cottonwood creek?

    Default Jim's Creek low silver numbers and limit change

    Had a friend out at Jim's yesterday said there were quite a few fish but they were mostly Red's very few Silvers being caught. Heard this morning that the limit was dropped from 2 to 1 out there. Can anyone verify that?

    Yes, the limit is one silver starting 6 am Friday the 10th. http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static-sf...oho_final1.pdf

    Man, you'll be a lucky man to nab one silver after the last few days trying out at Jim Creek. Been slow, and the silvers seem smaller than normal, maybe its just me.......F&G has a strong presense out there this year, make sure you dont forget the license or new limit! And to the folks slamming your big ol' fancy trucks through Jim Creek over and over trying to get a water plume to go over your rig(or whatever you're doing).....nobody thinks you're cool, its actually pretty annoying, and the oil being rinsed of your engine spreads all over the fishing area and over peoples fish on stringers.

    Thanks for the info was going to take the kids out there this weekend, maybe not now. Did not go out there last year partly because of that kind of thing heard that the troopers were patroling out there more often and that it had really cleaned up, guess not. That gets real annoying real quick.

    ...and no fishing between 6pm and 6 am. Might as well just shut it down altogether.

    Are the new restrictions just for Jim Creek, or does it cover my secret holes on the Knik and Matanuska also. Bud

    Well, it reads as follows:

    (8) in the Knik River drainage, including Jim Creek and the Eklutna Tailrace, as follows:
    (F) in Jim Creek; the bag and possession limit for salmon, other than king salmon, 16 inches or greater in length is three fish, of which only one may be a coho salmon; sport fishing for any finfish species is closed from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.;

    So "8F" says this change is for Jim Creek only, you know, up high above the Old Knik River bridge and that area right? Not for the Tailrace or below it... Is that how ya'll understand it? ... "fishon"
    "Fisherman for Life" and "Phantom owner Forever"

    Yes, the tailrace is a hatchery fishery, not a natural one. The time open and possesion limits for the tailrace weren't reduced by the EO.

    Well, starting Friday morning the Tailrace is the only place in the Knik arm management area you can fish for silvers.
