    Default Stuck baykit driveshaft extension

So, my buddy has a Woolly AK II with a baykit extension on his yamaha 150. We took the lower unit off and the 5" extension stayed in the powerhead. We have tried some pretty ingenious ways to remove that thing, but it won't budge. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a tool that will expand like a boat plug that we could stick up in the shaft, then grip and pull it out? Tried it with the boat plug, but it didn't grip it well enough. Our next step is to remove the powerhead and we rather not go that route. ?????????

What is the inside diameter ? Could you use a wedge type of concrete anchor bolt ?

I believe it's 7/8's inch or so. Hmmm. I'll have to look at something like that. Thanks.

If the shaft extension reduces in size after the coupler try to use a slide hammer type seal puller that can clamp down around the extension. Or use a piece of aircraft cable with loops around the end, one of the extension and one on the puller. May also try to heat the stuck section with heat gun to expand it slightly. Use some grease /antisieze next time installed. Good Luck!

Had the same issue last year with the same motor, had to have the power head removed to get the shaft removed. The directions should be a little clearer to avoid this issue.

    Good luck
