    Default New Nelchina caribou drawing permits issued!

    According to this press release posted on ADF&G's website, there will be over 2,000 more caribou permits issued for the Nelchina herd. These will be awarded from applicants who applied back in November/December but who did not draw a permit. I applied for the Tier I tag so I have a permit anyhow, but I imagine this is pretty good news for some forum members out there.

    That is only good if they raise the harvest quota. If they keep it the same as last year I do not see a point in this, besides creating more of a circus along the highways.

    Ok I posted that prior to reading the announcement and it now looks like they did raise the harvest quota due to increased numbers of caribou during the spring aerial count they conducted.

    Looks like my middle daughter will get a chance during the second season!

    They did. They raised it to 5,500 animals.

    If you got a draw (DC) permit read it carefully.

    My son was the only winner in the family., just checked and my other 2 kids and wife also drew the 481, guess I get to go to chicken alone and hold off for a big one. then be patient and let the kids and wife get some nice ones.

    Woo hooooo

    "In addition, the four hunt areas will be merged for 2012-13. All GMU 13 caribou drawing hunt permits DC480-483 will be good for all of GMU 13 for the upcoming hunting season. The original drawing permittees will be receiving new permits in the mail as well that will clearly state the new hunt boundaries"

    You can thank me later.

    The problem is that you may at some point collect on deal where as dirtofak is a safe bet to not need the taxi work! (Almost as safe as offering the deal to me!)

    Mods;

    Here is a deal I'll make.

    Anyone who draws a nelchina caribou tag, I'll give a 10% discount. Only applies to this hunt. Bring your tag, antlers and ill square ya away. kids 17 and under get an additional 5%. I'll also buy capes from those not interested in a mount.

    Awesome, so I'm not stuck with my permit to only hunt out of Eureka?? And my wife's permit isn't only east end Denali, we can hunt them both together?? Schweetness, I'll be checking into this for sure!!! Yep, I'm repping up a storm now, haven't shot a Nelchina caribou in 15 years, time to break the streak!!!

    Yeah I am a slow reader just caught that thanks Mike! Works for me, my middle daughter was the only one initially drawn but now my youngest daughter and myself were drawn plus with that new change all of us can hunt in the same area. What a great deal.
