Thread: Seward Silvers

    Default Seward Silvers

Headed to Seward in a week and wanted to get a feel for if the silvers are in Resurection Bay in any numbers that would benefit the bank angler. Taking the kids down for some R&R...
    Any help would be appricated.
    Thanks, Big

I would think it would be pretty slow from the bank, it was a lot slower than I expected from the boat last weekend. I am sure you can get some, just a matter of how much time and patience you have

We did see some jumpers just outside the harbor last weekend, so it may be possible. We trolled at the army docks, but had to go further to get fish.

If you don't find silvers you may still find chums outside the creek at the RV lot up the road. I recall the chums come a bit earlier.

Put 4 Silvers in the boat today and lost or missed that many.. Fished Caines and Sunny.. Sleeping in the harbor tonight and might try again in the AM before we go to Homer.

Seemed kind of spotty with quite a few pinks mixed in. Seems like a boat limit for 4 would take a while. We only went out about 26 miles. Maybe better in other areas tho.

We fished the north entrance to Cheval Narrows on Monday Aug. 6 and did well on silvers (13 in 3 hours). Lots of pinks too as others have reported and the silvers are not very big this year. Fish deeper (50-70') to avoid the pinks and fish off the point on the NW side of the narrows in 120 - 180' of water. Many of the charter boats are fishing in there too.

Was down there a few days and didn't see any. Nobody even fishing.

If I hear of any, I'll let you know if you do the same for me!

    This year is different ...

Saw Silvers jumping near the harbor on the way back today ...

Lots of boats at Calisto ...

We drove about 30 miles, all the way out to Pony and 5 guy's limited on Silvers in about six hours, whales, sea Lions and Porpoise all over the place. All but about three of the silvers were 8+ lbs with about 4 at around 12 lbs. One Silver was even recently chewed on by some marine mamal.

Was in too close to the rocks and Jim hooked a rockfish, nice one, and we saw a large brown torpeod headed our way ... **** Sea Lion .... oh well.

They are late .... big & fat, scattered all over the bay.
