    Talking Fish Meal for Shrimping

I just bought 50 pounds for shrimping. In doing a lot of research for shrimp baits, it appears to be used quite a bit down south.

Down there they mix it with clay. In Valdez we have big rocks and small rocks. No clay.

Any ideas how to use it with minimal supplies to mix it with?

i mixed it with fish oil from alaska mill and feed and it worked ok. it still can't beat regular shrimp bait. i mixed it until it was like dough and put it in sandwitch bags and froze the extra until needed. good luck!

You can mix it with cat food. and put it into those containers they sell. If it the dry meal mix alittle bit of herring oil to the cat food and meal mix.

The guy down at B&J's told me shrimp follow a particle trail, not a scent trail to your bait - So that said it would seem to me that stuff with small particles would do better than say, oily stuff.

herring and salmon bellies worked fine for us... I'd say you should just throw it in there and then maybe something for hang bait...
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

I have used herring and fish scraps for years. But the grass is always greener on the other side of the septic tank. Looking for something in the off season before the charters start furnishing bait.

Herring might be coming into Valde. Spotted a pod of dolphins that streached about 1 1/2 - 2 miles long. Huge group!
