Default Queit lake near anchorage for Beginner

I'm building my own cedar strip canoe and it's been a few years since scout camp canoe 101. I'm looking for a small quiet lake near anchorage where the water is calm that I can go and practice my canoeing skills.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Little campbell lake in Kincaid park, small but secluded and has/had a dock. Have not been there in awhile.

Sand Lake is a bit larger than the other lakes mentioned and still calm.
I may be slow, but I get where I'm going!
