    Default New to this site

    Hello folks,

I'm not from Alaska but your state shore has gotten a lot of my spending money from Kodiak to the Wrangells.

My girl and I are coming up in Sept. to do some mooseing and ducking hopefully.

We will be on a lake approx. 100 miles NNE of Anchorage.

Does anyone have a guess when and if puddle duck are in that general area?

    Thanks for any input.

    Vince,

The short answer, yes. I don't have a bunch of experience that direction but I've seen puddlers over there a month later than your timeframe. Have a nice trip.

NNE of ANC there are thousands of lakes.

If the lake has a decent amount of water weeds to support invertabrits there will be puddlers around. However with all that habitat the birds will move off with any pressure.

Stephan lake is the name. Not big for Alaska standards I guess. 4 miles by 1/2 mile with smaller lakes within 1/2 mile.

Pressure should be light with only two of us hunting it.

You fell for the trap, and disclosed the name of your secret spot, now therewill be hundreds of anchorage hunters there with 10 gage shotguns shooting at anything that comes within a half mile of them. welcome to Alaska. Bud
